Me Time at The Farnham Estate Spa

Advertisements

May was a mental month here at Tommo towers as every weekend we had a Family Communion or Confirmation so I decided not only would I, but my skin would, need a treat after a hectic month socailising!!! So a spa day was in order. I really wanted to get away from any hustle and bustle, and also I didn’t even want any stress coming to and from the spa so I decided on the spa at the Farnham Estate in Co. Cavan.

As the Farnham Estate is nestled into some amazing Cavan countryside and is miles away from any busy roads or towns so you are guaranteed a tranquil time from the moment you arrive at the hotel. The only difficulty you will have is deciding what treatments you are planning as the brochure  offers a fabulous array.  I was planning on having a body treatment and a facial so when I saw the May Spa offer ( new offer every month ) I couldn’t believe my luck not only did it include a full body scrub and facial but also a foot mask, three hours use of the spas Water Mint Thermal Suite and Gym and a two course lunch or for a little extra afternoon tea. So I rang straight away and booked myself in for all the above and the afternoon tea!!

By the time my spa date arrived ( the last day of May ) I was in sore need of it so when I arrived I was so happy to be greeted by this lovely therapist at the spa reception desk who once I signed in told me how everything was going to go and gave me a fluffy white robe, slippers, swimming hat and towels and showed me to the changing rooms. It was like I didn’t need to use my brain anymore everything was just so easy so I could really just relax. Which is obviously any Mammys dream!!!

The thermal mint suite is amazing and super chilled ideal for reading a book or catching up on a pile of your favourite glossy magazines. The infinity pool is stunning  and when you are swimming outside it is very hard to believe you are in Cavan and not somewhere more exotic. In the suite there are many interesting things to try from the Amethyst-Salt inhalation room, with its intense heat which is said to aid sleep to the Kneipp Walk, which you slowly walk through and aids blood circulation and eases aches and pains.

But onto the main event the treatments, you go back to reception where you meet your therapist and then you are brought through to the treatment rooms which are in their own separate atrium which is really quiet and peaceful. My treatment room was huge and as it was fully equipped with everything that was needed for my treatment I only left it when my treatment was finished. First I had the full body scrub which was a salt scrub mixed with essential oils. The smell of which was divine and once I was scrubbed from top to toe  my therapist ran a hot shower for me and stepped out of the room while I washed all the salt scrub off. My skin was super soft after this alone but then it was back onto the bed and a full body massage using warm gel with more aromatic oils which left my skin radiant and satin-smooth. Then I was wrapped up in a blanket and my facial began. My therapist not only cleansed and toned the skin as well as applying what felt like a super thick mask but she also used a steamer which smelt amazing. It left my face feeling soft and smooth and I also felt like my skin was glowing. In the midst of the facial the therapist applied my foot mask and placed my feet into what felt like small plastic bags and she still had time to give me a head massage. After my treatments where over the therapist spoke to me about  about my skin and gave me a really useful a sheet of all the products she used and felt would be beneficial for me to use along with instructions on how to use and then waited outside while I tried to bring myself back to reality and bundle myself back into my gown. Then I was escorted to a small room in the centre of the atrium which is full of loungers with blankets which my therapist wrapped me in and then gave me a tea made of mint and fennel which was really hydrating and I was advised to stay as long as I wished. There was also lots of water, juice, magazines and fresh fruit and it is so peaceful it is very hard to tear yourself away from it.

So eventually I headed back to the changing room and dressed to head for afternoon tea which is located back in the hotels Drawing Rooms. If you were feeling a little down in the mouth leaving the spa this is just the thing to put a smile back on your face as it is pure opulence and the staff treat you like the queen you are!!! On entering the drawing room your waiter greets you and seats you and the only decision you need to make is what tea you wish drink. After that everything is served promptly and you are left to your own devices to enjoy the pure gastro delight before you.

So when the time came to say goodbye to my day in paradise I floated out of the hotel feeling relaxed and happy and dreaming of my next visit!!!

Hope you enjoy,

Love,

JustLauren xx
